Only the performance of local players can get them into the Black Stars - Oduro Nyarko

A former Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Samuel Oduro Nyarko has stressed that players from the local league should only be invited to play for the Black Stars based on their performance.

According to him, nothing else should be considered.

"It is about performance, it is about sustaining your level of performance in the national team. If you are selected from the local league and you maintain your form and can prove that you have what it takes to play in the Black Stars, I think you will be kept there,” Oduro Nyarko said.

He insists that players who are given the chance to play for the Black Stars must up their game to keep their place in the team.

“It is important you lift your game when you are given the chance to play in the Black Stars and also fit into the level of the foreign-based players. If you don't and you flop, you get dropped from the national team,” Oduro Nyako shared.

His comments come after talks that it is possible several Ghana Premier League players will be drafted into the Black Stars for the next assignment.

This is because since becoming head coach of the Black Stars, coach Chris Hughton has watched several Ghana Premier League MTN FA Cup games.
