Ousmane Dembele has revealed that he opted to move to Borussia Dortmund over other reputable European clubs due to the promise of regular playing time.
The left winger arrived at Signal Iduna Parkfrom Rennes in his homeland of France instead of the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, and told Goal the reasoning behind his decision to join up with Thomas Tuchel's squad ahead of those heavyweights.
Asked if playing regularly was a crucial factor in his decision making process, he said: Yes, that was it and then of course the speech of the bosses I liked.
They told me that if I was good, I would play no matter what happened. I am very happy to be here and I do not regret my choice at all.�
Dembele has since starred for Dortmund throughout the 2016/17 campaign, with five goals and 13 assists registered from 30 appearances in all competitions.
The 19-year-old's performances have won rave reviews from fans and critics alike, but Dembele chose to play down his own personal form when quizzed on whether it was the be all and end all to be performing at such a high level.

He said: I'm just trying to show what I can do, have fun on the pitch and be decisive for my partners. What they say about me does not change anything at all, I just show what I can do. I give my best and I try show my qualities. There are many talented players. I was one of them in my years of training.
At Stade Rennais we were happy together then everything went a little fast for me. I was upgraded to the older teams a few times, but nothing more.�
The £12m summer signing's displays have led to small whispers that Dembele could be a potential Ballon d'Or winner in future seasons, as well as possibly upping sticks again and heading for an even bigger club in Dortmund.
However, the France international insisted that he is solely concentrating on the here and now, and that winning silverware with Dortmund was only success he had on his mind.
He added:I do not care at all. The value of the players, mine, I do not pay attention. I stay focused on the matches and the competition.
This is not my goal (winning the Ballon d'Or) because I think mostly about the collective. Winning titles is my goal.�
