Palmer-GFA: It’s a very interesting case - Lawyer Amanda Clinton

Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) was expected to announce the outcome of what has been a prolonged issue, having rescheduled the date of their ultimate decision from July 17 to August 4.

The Swiss-based court has not yet confirmed its final verdict, according to Lawyer Amanda Clinton, since the backlog has not been dealt with or it could be that there is a complex consideration before them, and re-election is likely to take place.

Speaking on local radio station Max FM, Amanda Clinton said

“It’s a very interesting case because ultimately Palmer is essentially trying to say that if other candidate has gone before the GFA’s Ethics Committee for things such as professional match-fixing, bribery, age changing, non-payment and we have other candidates mentioned in the Dzamefe Commission Report,”

“A lot of us remember the Dzamefe Commission Report. It should have been made available to the vetting committee. And so how come just one candidate was excluded. My objective assessment is that they could have excluded all of them, which is at least three (3) or four(4) candidates or included all of them, failing which they have to hold a re-election. Which is likely to happen,” she concluded.
