Partey’s Arsenal teammate Aubameyang opens up on having Ghanaian roots

Gabon and Arsenal superstar, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has disclosed that he has ties to Ghana after becoming teammates with Thomas Teye Partey.

Partey, skilled and combatant midfielder sealed a move to the London club on transfer deadline day after they paid his 45 million pounds release clause.

Having had the chance to play with Thomas Partey, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks to have an additional reason to have a solid relationship with the Ghana superstar.

According to the striker, he has his roots from Ghana even though his father is from Gabon.

“My family is from Gabon but I also have some roots in Ghana where Thomas is from so we are family too!.

“It is good for some of our younger players as well to have a player like him, of his calibre at training. They will learn a lot from him”, Aubameyang said in a press conference on Friday when asked about Partey.

The Gabon striker’s father, Pierre-François was born in the Gabonese city of Bitam to a Ghanaian mother and a Gabonese father.

In line with that, it means the Arsenal striker’s grandmother comes from Ghana, explaining the ties he has to the West African country.
