Pep Guardiola Prepared to Splash £70m on Atletico Madrid Superstar Antoine Griezmann

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has prioritised the high-profile capture of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann as the Catalan coach continues plans to construct his ideal team at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola's vision for City involves making them a genuine European heavyweight and believes, in order to do that, he must secure some of the continent's finest talents.

Griezmann would cost a heft £70m, according toThe Sun, but Guardiola is keen to inject world-class quality into his attacking line and ease the pressure on Sergio Aguero, whose future at the club remains a talking point.

Guardiola has the fast-improving Kelechi Iheanacho to aid Aguero in the goals department, while the impressive Jesus Gabriel is set to arrive in January, but the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager is still determined to press ahead with his pursuit of the man who gloriously lit up Euro 2016 with France in the summer.

Griezmann, 25, has established himself as one of the most exciting and devastating attacking players in the world. As previously mentioned, he catapulted himself to superstar status with his country when his six goals and two assists earned him both Player of the Tournament and the Golden Boot.

However, the former Real Sociedad youth prospect has continued his fine goalscoring form, finding the net eight times in 13 appearances for Atletico so far this season.

Manchester United and Chelsea are thought to be keen admirers but a £70m offer from City may well be enough to fend off the attentions of their Premier League rivals.
