Persib hope Essien and Cole can deliver Indonesian league title

The coach of Persib Bandung, Djadjang Nurdjaman, has tipped Michael Essien and Carlton Cole to fire his side to the Indonesian Super League title.

Although both players are yet to make a major impact after featuring in a trial match against Bali United, Nurdjaman says the duo have the quality required to succeed in Indonesia.

"Michael Essien played 45 minutes while Carlton Cole featured for 20 minutes and what I saw was quite promising for the upcoming season.

"But in terms of the vision of playing I think it was positive, Carlton Cole despite playing only briefly made some contributions and both players will be crucial for our title bid," added the coach.

Essien and Cole were teammates at Chelsea and will be hopeful of bringing their pedigree to bear on Persib when the Indonesian season gets underway on April 15.
