Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is back in first-team training as he continues his rehabilitation from ankle tendon damage.

Bale picked up the injury during the 2-1 Champions League win over Sporting CP in November and has not played for the Bernabeu side since, offering the likes of Isco and James Rodriguez more first-team opportunities.

Bale revealed his participation in training via a Twitter post but Real manager Zinedine Zidane doesn't expect the Wales international to be ready for selection for around a month.

"I hope that Bale is back with us before the return leg against Napoli. He still has to return to team training, which is the most important thing," the 44-year-old said, as quoted bySky Sports.

"He's fine. He's working very well and looks determined."

Should Bale recover within a month he should be available for the second leg of his side's Champions League tie against Napoli, while he would also be up for selection for Wales' World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland.

Bale had impressed during the early part of the season, picking up five goals and two assists from 11 La Liga games. His side have managed just fine without him, however, with Real currently top of Spain's top division with two games in hand on their closest rivals, Barcelona.

Real have a packed schedule over the next month and will play another seven matches in all competitions before the return leg against Napoli. Vital league trips to Valencia and Villarreal are next on the agenda before the trip to Naples.
