Playing for Asante Kotoko is backbreaking - Augustine Agyapong

Published on: 06 July 2023

Asante Kotoko defender, Augustine Agyapong has opened up on the difficulties in playing for the club.

The young defender has been with the Porcupine Warriors for the past two season after joining the club from Division Two League side Delsamaco FC in 2021.

Agyapong was instrumental when Kotoko clinched the Ghana Premier League title in the 2021/22 season.

In the just-ended season, the Black Galaxies defender made 23 appearances, scoring two goals and providing four assists as Kotoko finished 4th position.

In an interview with Kessben FM, Agyapong expressed playing for the Ghanaian giants comes with some additional pressure.

“It’s not easy to wear a Kotoko jersey. It’s not simple so you feel proud in a Kotoko jersey. It’s not easy because every team with a large support base is tough to play for. It’s not that simple. It’s a big and huge club so when you are in there you will understand.”

The 19-year-old full-back is expected to play a huge role for Kotoko in the upcoming season.
