Lux September, the senior manager of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has advised the media in Ghana to put aside the foreign leagues and promote the local ones more.

The PSL, the top flight league in South Africa, is regarded as the most vibrant league on the African continent and has attracted a lot of interest among the locals. It has been described as the standard of how African leagues should be managed.

According to Lux, the media in South Africa has made its league the primary focus. They talk about the league more than a rival league.

“I think people must do what is good for their country. The Ghanaians must decide what’s good for Ghana Football”, he told the Skyy Sports Show.

“We are in a sad state whereby Africans are watching English premier league and they’re killing their own league”.

“South Africa is very different; the most popular league in South Africa is the local league, not Manchester United, Chelsea or whatever, and that’s what we need in Africa, Africans must wake up…we have to be proud of what we have”, he concluded.

It has been reported that the Ghana Premier League will go autonomous soon. A committee for that purpose will be announced in the coming weeks.
