Ghana's Prosper Kassim scored the only goal in Birmingham Legion FC's win against Charlotte FC in the US Open Cup at the Protective Stadium.
Kassim started the game on the left wing with Anderson Aseidu close to him in midfield.
With five shots to each side, the first half finished in a 0-0 tie. Birmingham and Charlotte were closely matched. Malanda's foul against Pasher in the 50th minute would come back to haunt him.
Malanda was given a red card after fouling Pasher twice throughout the course of the game. Charlotte FC with 10 men struggled to contain the attackers from Birmingham Legion.
Ten minutes later, right wing Kassim receives a pass from Juan Agudelo, a forward, in the back. The Ghanaian cut the ball inside, beat fellow countryman Derrick Jones, and used his left foot to strike a low effort to the far post that goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina was unable to stop.
