Rapheal Dwamena invited to join Black Stars ahead of Ethiopia AFCON qualifier

Free-scoring striker Raphael Dwamena arrived in the country on Sunday evening and will join the rest of the Black Star players to continue their preparations ahead of the African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Walias of Ethiopia on June 11 at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi.

Dwamena was handed his first call-up into the senior national team by former coach Avram Grant during Ghana’s preparations for the 2017 AFCON hosted by Gabon.

However, he was unable to make the final 23-man squad for the 31st edition of the continent’s topmost show piece.

The former Red Bull Salzburg striker thus, has been granted another opportunity by returnee coach James Kwesi Appiah to prove his top form exhibited in his club this season.

The 21-year old FC Zurich striker is expected to be handed his debut by Kwesi Appiah against Ethiopia in the AFCON qualfier and the two FIFA friendlies against Mexico and the US Mens national team.
