Real Tamale United coach Abdul Mumin Abdulai has confirmed players have not been paid for almost five months.

The players boycotted training on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 over unpaid entitlements ahead of their Ghana Premier League game against Heart of Lions this weekend.

With two games into the second half of the campaign, the complained bitterly over their unpaid bonuses and salary arrears and decided not to show up for training few days to their game against Heart of Lions.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Abdul Mumin confirmed that the players and himself have not been paid for almost five and one-year respectively.

“The players boycotted yesterday's training because they haven't received their salaries in nearly five months, plus some unpaid bonuses. while I, as the coach, have not been paid in nearly a year. Our situation is dire, and we require immediate help”

“Some of us can't say anything, but the players have a weapon and are refusing to train, which speaks volumes to me. We're trying to figure out how to put our heads together with a little psychology”

“As a human, I occasionally need to assist them in some way, such as when a player complains about not eating all day, but I can't handle it all on my own, so we rely on stakeholders. It's a tough one, but we can still avoid relegation if things turn around today”

The Tamale-based club are struggling in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign and must play above themselves to survive at the end of the season.

They are currently bottom on the league table after 19 matches into the season, with just 18 points.
