Reconstruction of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium begins

On friday 18th September, the Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah cut sod for the reconstruction of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium into an ultra modern sports complex.

Addressing an animated crowd at the sod-cutting ceremony at Nkawkaw , the Minister said government is putting in measures to ensure the Nkawkaw Stadium is completed to serve its purpose of promoting football and other sporting disciplines in the area

He noted that the provision of such facilities is not to promote sporting activities ,however to use sports as a major tool to create jobs and employment.

The project, which is expected to be completed in 24 months, consists of a 10,000 seater capacity for spectators, a gymnasium, an indoor pitch, resource center, Lawn Tennis court, and external facilities, which comes with a cost of Gh¢27m.

The project will be in two phases, with the first phase costing Gh¢14m and the second phase is costing Gh¢13.

He said the the stadium will have a FIFA standard pitch that can host international matches.

Adding that,"After the completion of the stadium, Black Stars and other national teams can camp for any CAF and FIFA sanctioned tournament''.

He noted that the stadium will be one on the best in the country in terms of its view,since it is located near the Odweananoma mountain.
