Retired Referee Thomas Nunoo says Samuel Suka- the referee that officiated in the game between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko made the right decision in awarding a 82nd minute penalty that resulted in the only goal of the game.

The referee has been at the center of controversies with raging fans of Kotoko asking for the official to be punished for that crucial decision he took. Opinions have been divided on whether it was a good call or not.

Former referee Thomas Nunoo has jumped to the defense of Samuel Suka insisting from replays the ball hit the hand of Kotoko defender Ahmed Adams.

“The Kotoko player dived into the path of the ball, his left arm outstretched in the process of falling. He dived into the path of the ball. From my position or from what I saw on TV, it touched the arm of the player,” the retired referee said on unique fm.

In defense of the referee even further, Mr. Nunoo added the proximity of Referee Suka to the event wouldn’t allow him to make an error.

“What buttresses the point most is just look at the position of Referee Suka. Referee Suka was about two to three meters away from the incident, maximum tem meters. From Suka’s position will he miss the incident?, what Suka saw I believe is the right decision. I believe he made the right decision,” he added.
