REPORT: Asamoah Gyan caters for Kotoko’s bills for using Accra Academy sports complex

General Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has paid for the bills of Kumasi Kotoko for training on the astroturf pitch at the Accra Academy School Park ahead of their CAF Champions League clash against Nigeria side Kano Pillars.

The Kumasi based side is set to represent Ghana in the 2019/2020 edition of the CAF Champions League after emerging as winners of the tier 1 of the GFA Normalization Committee Special Competition.

At the preliminary stage of the continental competition, the team has been paired against Nigerian giants Kano Pillars.

Ahead of the first leg of the tie, the Porcupine Warriors have been training at the  Accra Academy sports complex in a bid to conform themselves with the Astro-turf pitch as the game against Kano Pillars will be played on artificial turf.

According to confirmed reports, the bills for the usage of the facilities by the club has been paid for by Asamoah Gyan who also funded the facility.

Sources say Gyan paid GH¢1,500 for the Kumasi-based outfit for the three-day training session.

Meanwhile, Kotoko is set to depart Ghana for Nigeria on Thursday to acclimatize for the match with Kano Pillars which will be played on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
