Former Blackpool goalkeeper Richard Kingson believes that Samuel Osei Kuffour is the greatest centre back to come from the nation.

The pair played together in the 2006 world cup. Samuel Osei Kuffour had an outstanding career in football. The centre back won numerous trophies with Bayern Munich including the UEFA Champions League in 2001.

He also placed second in African Footballer of the Year rankings on two separate occasions. Kingson, who had a successful stint with the Black Stars believes that although a number of excellent centre backs played for the nation in the past, Kuffour is the best among the lot.

“To tell you the truth a lot of players have done a lot for the country in the past but I think he [Samuel Osei Kuffour] is the greatest of them all as a defender” Kingston told Gideon Okyere Anim(Gatusso) on Accra-based Kingdom FM107.7.

Richard Kingson has now retired and manages a the RK22 goalkeepers academy.
