The football fraternity has been thrown into shock following the disclosure of Ghana’s expenditure for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament where the expenses of the Black Stars pre-tournament friendly is nowhere to be found.

Ghana made another appearance at the AFCON this year but failed to bring home the prestigious trophy that has eluded the country for the past 37 years.

Prior to the disappointing campaign in Egypt which ended at the round of 16 stage, Ghana played two international friendly matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) against Namibia and South Africa.

Reading the expenditure of the Sports Ministry earlier today in Parliament, however, Hon. Isaac Asiamah failed to touch on the expenses for those two friendlies.

Meanwhile, the disclosure that the government had to spend a whopping $4.5 million on the campaign of the Black Stars at the tournament has received severe backlash from the entire citizenry.

Many believe that such a huge amount of money should not be spent on the team especially when they constantly fail to bring anything home at the end of the tournament.
