Slaven Bilic's West Ham sacking 'better late than never' - Alvaro Arbeloa

Published on: 07 November 2017

Mark Ogden discusses what impact David Moyes could have at West Ham and questions whether the appointment is right for the club.

Former West Ham defender Alvaro Arbeloa has taken a swipe at Slaven Bilic, saying the Hammers' decision to sack him was "better late than never."

Arbeloa played for Bilic at West Ham last season, though only made a total of four performances for the club as they finished 11th in the Premier League but ultimately struggled to meet their own expectations.

Bilic was sacked by West Ham on Monday after the club dropped into the Premier League's relegation zone, with David Moyes being appointed as his successor on Tuesday.

But ex-Spain international Arbeloa said on Twitter that his old club should have moved to dismiss the 49-year-old at an earlier opportunity.

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid defender Arbeloa retired from football in June after being released by West Ham at the end of last season.
