Highlighting his responsibilities as the head coach of the four-time African champions, the former Brighton manager said his primary responsibility is to watch the local game and encourage players.

He also revealed that some players have the potential to earn a call-up in the team.

"I am mostly in Ghana because my primary responsibility is because of the Premier League," he told talkSPORTS.

"Even though a large majority of the Black Stars players are playing in the European leagues and there are quite a few playing in England but it is part of my responsibility to watch the local game and try to encourage those in the local league.

"There are potential places for them in the Black Stars squad and I think that is an important aspect and for me, it is important for me to be there," he added.

Chris Hughton will reassemble his Black Stars team for the last round of games of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against the Central African Republic (CAR) in September.

A win will cement Ghana's place in the tournament that will be hosted in Ivory Coast next year.
