Southampton Duo on Verge of England Call-Up After Impressing Three Lions Manager Gareth Southgate

Southampton youngsters Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse are both close to England call-ups, according toThe Sun.

England have a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania after a friendly with Germany later in March, and Southgate has been impressed by the Saints duo given their good form over the past few weeks.

The pair helped Southampton reach the EFL Cup final, although the side couldn't topple Manchester United at Wembley last month with Southgate watching.

With Jordan Henderson a doubt for the Three Lions squad due to injury, Ward-Prowse could be drafted in as a replacement for the Liverpool midfielder.

Henderson will miss Liverpool's match against Burnley on Sunday and will most likely be absent for England's friendly against Germany.

Ward-Prowse has featured in 20 Premier League games this season, scoring twice and adding four assists, while Redmond has managed five goals and an assist in 25 league matches.

Redmond could be an interesting addition to England's squad, given the current lack of English wingers in formin the Premier League.

Andros Townsend has previously been included in England squads, but has struggled for form this season, while Wilfried Zaha recently elected to represent the Ivory Coast at international level. Raheem Sterling is one wide player who is certain to be included in Southgate's squad.

Regardless of whether the two are called up, both Ward-Prowse and Redmond are expected to be named in the England U21 squad for the Euros in the summer. The two are seen as integral members of Aidy Boothroyd's team and will travel to Poland as England look to win the competition.
