The Ministry of Youth and Sports has reacted to Ghana’s qualification to play at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament next year.

Ghana booked a place at the tournament on Tuesday, December 5, when the Black Queen lost 1-0 to Namibia in the second leg of the final round of the qualifiers.

Thanks to a 3-1 win in the first leg, the Black Queens brushed aside their counterparts from Namibia with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Reacting to the achievement of the Black Queens, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has congratulated the women’s national team.

“Congratulations to the Black Queens for Qualifying to the next African Women's Cup of Nations,” a statement by the Ministry said.

The qualification of the Black Queens to the 2024 WAFCON is the first for Ghana in the last five years.

Before this qualification, the Black Queens had missed the last two editions of the continental showpiece.
