Ghanaian defender Stephan Ambrosius has expressed his delight after signing a new contract with Hamburg SV.

In the last couple of months, the German Bundesliga 2 side has been in talks to get the Germany-born defender to commit to a new long-term contract.

On the back of successful talks, Stephan Ambrosius has inked a new contract that will see him playing for Hamburg SV until the summer of 2024.

Speaking in an interview, the 22-year-old says he is thrilled to extend his stay at the club.

“I’m very happy that the negotiations were fruitful and I’m able to stay at HSV. It was always a dream of mine to play at the Volksparkstadion. Thanks to the appearances I’ve now made, I’ve been able to swap that giddy excitement at the beginning for enjoyment of the game.

“I always try to give 100% and want to motivate my teammates too. In the future I want to push on with my development and be successful with the team,” Stephan Ambrosius said as quoted on the website of Hamburg SV.
