Stuarts Baxter part ways with South Africa

British tactician, Stuart William Baxter has parted ways with the South Africa national team after tending in his resignation letter on Friday, August 2, 2019.

According to the Coach, he believes it is time to move on to a new challenge after failing to lead the Bafana Bafana to Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) glory this year in Egypt.

The former Örebro SK player was the head coach for the side back in 2004 where he was tasked to prepare the team to the 2006 world cup. He later quit the job after failing to reach the target.

Fast forward to May 4, 2017, Stuart Baxter was named as South Africa coach for a second time, replacing Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba, who was sacked in December 2016.

He qualified the team to the 2019 AFCON but only managed to take them to the quarter-finals where they were beaten by the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Weeks after ending the continental campaign, the gaffer has resigned from his post as they gear towards the qualifiers of the 2021 cup of nations as well as the 2022 world cup.
