Sunderland defender O\'Shea says Black Cats should have used back-three more often

Sunderland defender John O'Shea believes manager David Moyes should have used back-three formation more often during the season.

The 36-year-old pointed out that the relegated side achieved some of their best results playing that formation.

"When we've played that formation we've had good results," he said. "When we played it away to Tottenham and away to Palace we drew with Tottenham and beat Palace 4-0. But we haven't played it since then.

"It's all well and good doing it for 72 minutes but when you're playing away at the Emirates you have to do it for 92, 96 minutes – whatever it might take."
