Swansea's Bob Bradley Says Critics Want Him Sacked Because of His American Accent

Swansea City Manager Bob Bradley has said that his critics want him to leave because he is American.

The Premier League's onlyWelsh side have just won one out of Bradley's first seven games, and are bottom of the table with just nine points, three points adrift of 17th-placed West Ham.

When asked about his future, Bradley spoke to the media(as quoted by the BBC)claiming:"If some people want to criticise - there were some who had me out the door from the first day because of my accent. They can hit the road because that doesn't have anything to do with anything."

"When you're a manager, it goes with the territory. If you worry about that and spend time covering yourself in those ways, players will spit you out so fast, they'll see through it.

"If I am telling players 'you have to look adversity in the eye and you have to have some courage', I have to have it too."

The bookies' favourite Ryan Giggs was overlooked for the managerial vacancy at the Liberty Stadium following Francesco Guidolin's dismissal, as the new American owners opted for the former USA coach Bob Bradley in October.

After many years of stability, Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins has accepted responsibility for the team's decline, and will encourage owners Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan to invest in the squad in January in order to extend the club's Premier League stay into a seventh year.

Regarding transfers, Bradley was adamant that his new side needed additions.

"We need to improve from back to front.I have good discussions with Huw on all aspects throughout week. I also have a weekly call with Jason and Steve.

"If we come up with the right player and that player is eager to get to Swansea and feels it is a challenge they are up for, I have every bit of confidence Jason and Steve are ready to jump in and make moves that are going to help us."

The Swans take on fellow strugglers Sunderland on Saturday in what will be a vital relegation six-pointer
