The problems of Ghana football is more economic than quality- Alhaji Abu Lamin

Member of Ghanaian giants Alhaji Abu Lamine has quashed reports that Ghana Football is dead, insisting the problem of the domestic league is more economic than the lack of quality.

The Ghana Premier League has suffered a lot of bad publicity due to the low standard of the league and the poor performance of Ghanaian teams on the continent.

With the Porcupine Warriors set for continental campaign, the leader of Kotoko's CAF Confederations Cup adventure says reports of the premier league dead should be ignored but called on government to support the local league.

"I don't think Ghana Football is dead because when you look at the quality of play and the systems, a lot has improved," he told Zylofon.

"I think the problem of Ghana Football is more economic. The economic situation is the reason why football has dwindled a bit,"

"The economic situation is not an individual problem, it's a general problem and we all know the country's economic situation,"

"I think it's time the government comes in to help, I will use this opportunity to ask the government to support because the club administrators can't do it all by themselves."

"But for the talent and quality, there is still a lot in the country."

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will host Club Athletique Rennaissance de Aiglon on Sunday in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary rounds.
