Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan has revealed that he turned down a national team appointment.

Gyan, who holds a UEFA License B coaching certificate made these remarks on Asempa FM on Wednesday as monitored by Footballghana.com.

According to him, he was made the offer to coach one of the men's football national teams but he rejected the offer.

He added that the timing was wrong but did not rule out coaching any of the national teams in the future.

"The timing was wrong but let us see what happens in the future," he revealed on Asempa FM.

"Everybody has a way of doing their things," he added.

Asamoah Gyan remains the only player with the highest goal-scoring record for the country and Africa's highest goal-scorer at the World Cup.

During his playing day, Gyan played at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Fifa World Cups in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively. He scored his first World Cup goal against the Czech Republic.

He played for Liberty Professionals, Stade Rennes, Udinese, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG, Kayerispior NorthEast United and Legon Cities.

Gyan officially announced his retirement in June 2023.
