Theophilus Anoba was named man of the match for his outstanding performance against Karela United in their 1-0 win at the Akoon Park on Sunday afternoon.
After the win the home side moved from third to second on the league log with 44 points, three behind leaders Aduana FC. Meanwhile, Karela United dropped two places in the standings from 10th to 12th with 32 points, only one point above the relegation zone.
Medeama SC took the lead from the spot with the usual suspect, Vincent Atinga, doing the honors from 12 yards to give the Yellow and Mauves a 1-0 advantage.
Augustine Evans Adotey's side held on and went into the break with the advantage on home turf.
There were no further goals in the game as the hosts held on for the victory.
Medeama SC will play as guests to Accra Lions FC in the national capital at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, April 21.
Meanwhile, Karela United will welcome relegation-fighting Legon Cities FC on the same day to the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in match week 27 of the league.
