Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to the return of Ghana international Thomas Partey after several months’ absence.

The Black Stars midfielder made a return to action on Monday night, marking his comeback after more than four months sidelined with injury in Arsenal’s triumph over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Partey, who has been out of action since October 2023 played a huge role as the Gunners thumped Sheffield United 6-0 in the English Premier League clash.

The former Atletico Madrid star made a substitute appearance as his side made light work of their opponent in the week 27 clash.

He was introduced in the 65th minute, replacing Italian midfielder Jorginho and put in a solid performance at Bramall Lane. It was his fifth Premier League appearance of the campaign for the Gunners.

Goals from Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, Ben White and Jayden Bogle's own goal ensured the Gunners cruised to victory to merit the three points.

After the game, Arteta asserted the Ghana international must work to earn the right to play just like any other player.

"Thomas is available now to play a certain amount of minutes and he needs to build that".

"It was his first minutes after four months and like everybody you have to earn the right to play the minutes". He said.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder will hope to stay fit for the remainder of the season.
