Three reasons why Inter’s Candreva won’t be sold

Published on: 24 August 2018

Inter winger Antonio Candreva isn’t expected to leave the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza despite falling down the pecking order.

Matteo Politano and Keita Balde both joined the Nerazzurri during the summer, and it appears coach Luciano Spalletti has thrust them ahead of the 31-year-old due to his poor form last season.

Rumours have linked Candreva with an exit to Monaco, but La Gazzetta dello Sport reports there are three reasons it’s unlikely he will leave Inter before the end of the month.

Firstly, his current girlfriend Allegra Luna is expecting a child, meaning a move outside of Italy isn’t in the cards. Second, Candreva isn’t thrilled with the idea of joining Monaco on loan and not on a permanent deal, throwing talks between the two clubs into doubt.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the Italian is convinced he can work his way back into Spalletti’s plans given Inter will have to balance Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League football over the coming months.

Thus, with no real talks ongoing over a sale, don’t expect to see Candreva leave Inter before August 31.
