Toby Alderweireld admits no Spurs contact about new deal

Toby Alderweireld admits he's yet to hear from Tottenham about a new contract.

Spurs' highly-rated centre-back is contracted to the north London side until 2019 in a deal worth about £50,000 a week though the club have the option of prolonging it until 2020.

Should Alderweireld not agree a new extension before 2019, however, a £25million release clause when the Belgian is 30 will become active.

The centre-back, who joined Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in 2015, told Sky Sports News: "I had a good conversation with the manager. I told him I'm focused on football, to keep my game up and help the team.

"That's all I can do. You can see I'm happy there, and I try to help the team, and that's the way I always play football."

When then asked if he had been offered a new deal by the club, he said: "No, like I said, I am focused on football. The rest, I don't know, we will see about that."
