Exactly 10 years ago today, the Black Stars of Ghana drew 1-1 with the Socceroos of Australia at the 2019 FIFA World cup.

The two countries faced off in a second Group D match of the tournament on the back of different results from the opening day game.

While Ghana defeated Serbia 1-0 on day 1, Australia disappointingly suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Germany.

At the end of a pulsating encounter at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Matchday 2, the Black Stars had to share the spoils with the Socceroos despite playing with a man advantage.

Brett Holman opened the scoring for the Australians as Asamoah Gyan netted his second goal of the tournament on the 25th minute to draw parity for the African side.
