Tokyo 2020 qualifier: Ghana to play Kenya in next round

Black Queens of Ghana will play Kenya in the third round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers.

Coach Mercy Tagoe' side eliminated Gabon 5-0 on aggregate to progress to the next stage of the qualifiers where they meet Kenya in a two-legged tie.

Ghana defeated Gabon 3-0 away in Libreville before managing to beat their counterparts 2-0 in the return leg at Accra Sports Stadium Accra to qualify.

On the other hand, Kenya knocked out Malawi on a 5-3 aggregate score to set a date with Ghana.

Only the ultimate champions of the qualifiers at the end of the fifth round are guaranteed a place at the Olympics.

The runners-up will have a playoff showdown with the second-placed nation from South America.

At the last Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Africa was represented by South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Ghana are chasing their first-ever qualification for the global showpiece.
