Top 10: Serie A Youngsters in 2018

Published on: 03 January 2019

Federico Chiesa – Fiorentina

The winger has demonstrated that his first Serie A season in 2016/17 was no fluke and he has become an established member of the Gigliati squad.

Chiesa scored six times and provided nine assists in 36 league games in 2017/18 and he has three goals and five assists so far this season.

Despite only being 21 years old, he is now a regular feature of the Italian national team under coach Roberto Mancini, frustrating opposition with his pace, direct dribbling, and his tireless running down the flanks.

Patrick Cutrone – AC Milan

Outshining Andre Silva and Nikola Kalinic who were purchased in the summer of 2017, Cutrone scored 10 goals in 28 Serie A matches in 2017/18 as well as four goals in nine Europa League games.

This season, he scored four goals in just five Europa League fixtures and three times in 17 Serie A games, but he has had to sacrifice himself for the team whenever the experienced Gonzalo Higuain plays.

The 20-year-old is a footballer that makes the most of his limited time on the pitch. He has the instincts of a classical poacher, makes intelligent runs, and works hard. With more experience, Cutrone has the potential to be a star striker for Milan and Italy.
