TotalEnergies CAF Champions League action resumes with high-octane African football action this week

Following an explosive opening to the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group stages last week, the action makes a return this Friday as the race towards a place in the knockout stages of Africa’s premier club football competition heats up.

Following their crushing 3-0 defeat to Al Ahly in Egypt last week, Ghana’s Medeama plays host to another north African side in Algeria’s CR Belouizdad on Friday evening. A simultaneous fixture sees Al Hilal welcome a high in confidence ES Tunis to Sudan.

One of the marquee fixtures of the weekend sees the high-flying Mamelodi Sundowns travel to DR Congo to face TP Mazembe on Saturday for what promises to be a fierce Group A battle while giant slayers, Jwaneng Galaxy who have raised some eyebrows across the continent following their shock away win over Wydad AC will be looking at continuing with their fairytale run when they host Simba SC in Gaborone.

Later in the afternoon, Young Africans play host to reigning champions, Al Ahly in Tanzania as they hope to redeem themselves from their disappointing 3-0 loss to CR Belouizdad. Ahly’s Egyptian counterparts, Pyramids are also on the road to face a wounded Nouadhibou in Mauritania who suffered a 3-0 loss to Sundowns last Sunday.

In the closing fixtures of Match Day 2, Tunisian side, ES Sahel will be away to Angola’s Petro de Luanda in the late evening kick off which will play concurrently to Ivorian giants' Asec Mimosas’ hosting of a wounded Wydad who are still licking their wounds from last weekend’s disappointing result at home against Jwaneng Galaxy.
