Tottenham are interested in a move for Geoffrey Kondogbia, but face a battle with Valencia to sign the Inter Milan midfielder, sources close to Spurs have told ESPN FC.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring in a new midfielder in the next two transfer windows and Kondogbia features highly on his wanted list after impressing on loan at Valencia this season.

The 24-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Valencia after finding himself out of favour at Inter under manager Luciano Spalletti.

Kondogbia has been a revelation for Valencia since moving to the Mestalla and has been instrumental in helping them to second spot in La Liga where they are leaders Barcelona's closest challengers.

He has scored three goals in 12 games for Valencia and Tottenham have been monitoring his progress in Spain as they are long-term admirers of the player from his time at Monaco.

However, Valencia are in pole position to sign Kondogbia as his loan deal includes an option to make the move permanent and should they qualify for next season's Champions League they would have the funds to buy him from Inter.

Tottenham are expected to continue to keep tabs on Kondogbia's situation and will rival Valencia for the France international's signature.
