Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama has had a street named after him in Tanzania.

The Kenya international has won high praise for his performances, but perhaps the highest has come from Tanzania.

Wanyama has been on holiday in the African country, and the commercial port city of Dar es Salaam decided to reward the 26-year-old with his own street after winning the Kenyan sports personality award.

The midfielder took to Instagram to post a video of himself unveiling a sign in the district of Ubungo - where he was attending a local football tournament - which read: "V. Wanyama Street."

He thanked the district for the honour, writing: "My sincere thanks to Mayor and all the Ubungo Municipal residents for welcoming me and giving my name to the NHC Local Road."
