Tottenham Players Keen to Ditch Wembley and Return to White Hart Lane for Europa League Ties

Tottenham Hotspur will consider ditching Wembley as their home for European games, with players keen to return to White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday night after losing 2-1 to Group E leaders Monaco, but they can stillqualify for the Europa League if they end up finishing third.

Spurs will face CSKA Moscow at Wembley in just under a fortnight's time, the same stadium that has seen the north-Londoners fall to two defeats against Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco.

If Spurs can avoid defeat against CSKA they will finish in third, which will see them qualify for the last-32 Europa League stage that starts in February.

And while they can occupy Wembley if they want, a return to White Hart Lane is also on the cards.

"It would be good for us to play at home," theDaily MailquoteMoussa Sissoko as saying.

"By home I mean White Hart Lane. We know the stadium and it would be better for us."

Speaking after the defeat to Monaco a disheartened Hugo Lloris told reporters that Spurs weren't quite at the level of Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen.

The Spurs skipper said: "We are struggling to handle the level and the demands of the Champions League and we realise we are inferior to teams such as Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen. I was hoping for a lot more."

"We have a status but it is not enough. We have to show it on the pitch but from the start is has been difficult to live up to this status, whether at Wembley or on the road.

"Against Monaco we were often beaten in one-on-ones, in aggression and in runs and sprints. We made too many technical mistakes. We never had the feeling we could win."
