Tottenham Striker Harry Kane Has Eyes Set on Captaining England After Stating it Would 'Be a Dream'

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has admitted that he has his eyes set on captaining England in the future, and has suggested it would 'be a dream.'

The Spurs forward has become one of England's most prolific goal scorers of recent times, scoring 49 Premier League goals since the start of the 2014/15 season, however he failed to bring that ability to the Euros this summer with the Three Lions, bowing out embarrassingly to Iceland in the last 16.

Despite this, according to an interview with the Times, via theDaily Mail, the 23-year-old is confident that he can lead his country both on and off the pitch, and would love to be given the chance to succeed current skipper Wayne Rooney and wear the armband for England.

"It's my personality. I've always been a leader, on and off the pitch," said Kane.

"I don't think a captain is just having the ability to shout on the pitch, or moan at someone.

"It comes with a whole package ... meeting with the fans and having that aura in the dressing room. I've managed to captain Spurs a couple of times. It would be a dream to captain Spurs full time and captain England. Who wouldn't want to do that?"

After recovering from an injury that kept him out from October, Kane has returned back to scoring ways after netting a penalty to earn a 1-1 draw against north London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, and will be hoping to do the same in their next fixture at home to West Ham United on Saturday.
