Assistant coach of the Black Meteors, Godwin Attram has predicted a win in the team's opener of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Congo.

Ghana will open their Group A campaign on Sunday, June 25 at the Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.

The playing body on Thursday held their first training ahead of the clash against their Congolese opponent.

Attram speaking to Citi Sports says he is confident the team will breeze past their group opponents and qualify for the Olympics.

Speaking to Citi Sports, in an exclusive interview, Attram is confident the team will breeze past their group opponents and qualify for the Olympics.

“Playing against Congo is a do-and-die affair we must be able to take our three points that should be our qualifier because winning the first game is important," he said.

"Then the second and third you focus and plan how you go about them but the first game is the one Ghana should duly win. It’s very important

“The other groups are not our problem for now we moving out of the prelims is the most important thing for the nation. So we have to do our best to win against Congo and plan towards the second and third game,” he added.

Ghana will play host country, Morocco in their second group game before wrapping up their games against Guinea.

Ghana’s quest will be to clinch one of the three tickets for the Paris Olympic Games next year after missing out on the last edition in Tokyo.

The Black Meteors' previous appearance at the Olympics is at the 2004 Athens Games in Greece.
