U23 AFCON: We have had very good preparations for this tournament, says Ghana coach Ibrahim Tanko

The head coach of the Ghana U23 team, Coach Ibrahim Tanko is upbeat for the 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Nicknamed the Black Meteors, the side will take on Congo in a Group A encounter later today.

At his pre-match press conference ahead of the game on Saturday, June 24, Coach Ibrahim Tanko noted that his team has had good preparation for the tournament.

He stressed that the target is to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and win the U23 AFCON.

“Our target is to qualify to the Olympic Games but of of course there is a trophy at stake so we want to win it too.

“Our preparations have been good. We started in Ghana and went to Egypt. Our objective is to qualify and to win the ultimate”, Coach Tanko said.

The match between Ghana and Congo will be played today at the Prince Moulay Abdullah Stadium in Rabat.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 16:00gmt.
