Former Hearts of Oak coach, Mohammed Polo has implored Ghana head coach CK Akonnor to use the friendly match against Qatar to reassess the new players in the team.
Last Friday, Coach CK Akonnor played his first match in charge of the national team. In a friendly match against Mali, Ghana suffered a 3-0 defeat with most of the newly invited players marking their debut.
With an unimpressive showing from the players, many have has insisted that the new players do not merit wearing the national team colours.
However, for Mohammed Polo, Coach CK Akonnor should afford the new guys another chance in the game against Qatar and use it to reassess them.
“He [CK Akonnor] should reassess the players he has. These are new players in the team. It is only 3 players who are known faces there. That is Partey, Jordan, and Dede. The rest of them should convince the coach that they are prepared to play”, Mohammed Polo told Class FM in an interview.
He added, “That is why he called them. He has confidence in them. That is why he asked them to come. But if the performance will be the same thing like what happened in Mali then I think the old guys should come back”.
The Ghana and Qatar game will be played at the Titanic Sports Stadium in Turkey today and will kick-off at 15:30GMT.
