Veteran Ghanaian trainer JE Sarpong says there are deficiencies in football management in Ghana and is of the opinion players are unable to excel because of management negligence.

Reacting to the recent performance of Abednego Tetteh at Bibiani Goldstars, the former Kotoko and Hearts of Oak coach fingered management for players struggle at clubs.

The former Hearts of Oak and King Faisal flop has hit the ground running since joining Bibiani Gold Stars in the second transfer window.

Tetteh has scored seven goals so far and is just a goal shy from Stephen Mukwala and Mezack Afriyie in the Ghana premier league top scorer race.

“If a player returns from abroad, it depends on how you handle to get what you want from him. There are a lot things that undermine the performance of players, they don’t play well at times because of how we treat them”

“Abednego Tetteh is performing at Goldstars because he is being managed well by Michael Osei. He is a former player and is abreast with monetary issues so he will do everything for the player to excel. Now, Tetteh is happy and look at how he is playing. Can you tell me Abednego Tetteh is a bad player? It is because of the deficiencies in football management in the country”
