German second division side VfL Osnabrück is interested in securing the services of Ghanaian defender Stephan Ambrosius.

Five years ago, Stephan Ambrosius moved from HSV youth to the first team, and at the time, he was regarded as one of the best center defensemen on the Elbe.

The 24-year-old was unable to play more than 29 competitive games for Hamburg due to two cruciate ligament ruptures within a span of 28 months.

Ambrosius hasn't got any opportunities under head coach Tim Walter, which is why the defender spent last season on loan at Karlsruher SC.

Tobias Schweinsteiger, the head coach of Osnabrück, is eager to sign the center defender after working with him as Dieter Hecking's assistant at HSV.

The defender is being pursued by the VfL coach to join Osnabrück, according to Bild. But before anything else, Ambrosius will be present as the Hamburg squad begins their preparations. On Wednesday, the sports medical examination is required.
