VIDEO: Lars Stindl Accidentally Blanks Ball Boy's Handshake Before Match Against Hamburg

Published on: 01 March 2017

Handshakes, a staple art in the world of football, a global sign of respect for one another. If a player rejects one it is criticised by all, except if you are Wayne Bridge rejecting John Terry's tainted hand.

Borussia Monchengladbach captain Lars Stindl did not commit the dreaded crime of refusing someone's hand, but, he did accidentally leave a young ball boy hanging before their quarter-final tie with Hamburg.

The little boy stretches out his hand on several occasions but Stindl unintentionally fails to recognise each time.

Got to feel for the little guy there, but to be fair to the Monchengladbach forward, he didn't do it on purpose. If he had, expect a similar reaction to the one Ed Malyon proposed.

Thankfully, there will be no torch-wielding mobs descending on the German player's house as he apologised on Twitter as soon as he was aware of his accidental actions. Of course, the Tweet is in German.

Sorry!! Bin auch immer noch nervös vor so einem Spiel! 😬 https://t.co/5y8OZLnE0d

The 28-year-old dedicated his shirt to the over-looked boy in what was a very kind gesture. Stindl has been in fantastic form of late, scoring five goals in his last three games, including a hattrick in the famous 4-2 win over Fiorentina in the Europa League.
