Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris got what proved to be the winner as Ligue 1's bottom club FC Lorient beat Stade Rennais FC 2-1 in a Brittany derby at Le Moustoir.

Waris got the winner for the hosts after Giovanni Sio had cancelled out Michaël Ciani's opener in the first half, although Lorient remain at the foot of the table. Waris, 25, scored the winner in the 46th minute after receiving a Benjamin Moukandjo assist and slamming home a right footed shot from very close range to the bottom left corner. The misfiring Black Stars striker is now over his profligate form and has scored twice in his last two games for Lorient.
