Watch Out! Napoli Quartet Eyeing Champions League Upset Against La Liga Giants

Published on: 08 February 2017

SSC Napoli decimated Bologna 7-1 in the Serie A on Saturday evening, meaning that they are on a mission to take out Real Madrid in the Champions League on February15.

The Partenopei's Dries Mertens, Marek Hamsik, and Lorenzo Insigne all impressed in attack during the performance against a stunned Bologna. Both Hamsik and Mertens earned hat-tricks, withNapoletanowinger Insigne netting a vital goal.

With seven goals scored between the trident, Napoli's attack hasn't looked more threatening than right now. The Neapolitan attackers will also be motivated in Spain as they have a decent fan base traveling to Madrid.

10,000 Napoli fans will be in attendance at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first game against Real Madrid. 

Spanish winger Jose Callejon has played a significant role in the team's attack, especially in assisting the many goals. However, the Spaniard picked up a red card last weekend, which means he will miss out this Friday night's fixture against Genoa.

It might benefit the team as he can rest up for the important Champions League clash next week and it could potentially give Arkadiusz Milik the chance to make his anticipated return after a long injury.

Real Madrid's trio consisting of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, and Cristiano Ronaldo have managed to only score seven goals between them so far in 2017.

Napoli's Hamsik, Insigne, and Mertens have scored seven goals between them in just one fixture, which was last week's aformentionedwin againstBologna. I Ciucciarelli will look to use this in-form scoring statistic to their advantagewhen they take on Real Madrid at the Bernabeu Stadium.

Manager Maurizio Sarri will have plenty of headaches when it comes to select the starting forwards. The toughest decision will be to choose Mertens or Milik as a starting striker. Although, with Dries Mertens being in red-hot form, it will be rare not to see him start in one of Napoli's biggest games yet.

There is no doubt that this clash will be the most anticipated in the Round of 16. Napoli may be the underdogs this time as Real Madrid are no Bologna.
