Watford Striker Urges Team to Tighten Up Defensively After Shipping 4 Goals Against Southampton

Watford striker Stefano Okaka has urged his team to tighten up defensively after they conceded four goals at home for the second time this season. The comments were made in the wake of their 4-3 defeat at the hands of Southampton on Saturday.


The Hornets boast the unfavourable record of having the thirdworst defence at home this season - only Sunderland and Swansea have conceded more times on home turfin the current campaign.

The Italian striker wasquotedas saying:"It's sad and we need to work on our defending, everybody, because we needed the point from the game. We gave everything - it's not good when you give everything and you lose the point like this.


"It's very frustrating because we scored three goals at home, normally with three goals you win, but today we lost. It's not good enough."


Watford have been unable to hold on toa lead from winning positions in their last two games, much to the frustration of manager Walter Mazzarri. However, Okaka added that his boss was not angry with his players following the defeat toSouthampton.

He said:"He wasn't angry, because when you score three goals and play like this, you can't be angry, maybe sad, because we gave everything and we didn't get the point, but not angry. We have to carry on and we have to fight.


"I think we deserved one point because we didn't play too bad. But sometimes football is like this. We have to improve the defensive part of our game."


Okaka has three goals in 10 appearances for the Hornets this season. Their next match is a trickyaway fixture at Crystal Palace who have recently seen a resurgence in form.
