Dreams FC attacking midfielder Sylvester Simba says he and his teammates anticipated an easy game against Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Simba featured when his outfit succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, leading to their elimination from the competition after a pulsating goalless draw in the first leg in Cairo.

“First of all, we thank God for where we have gotten to. It was a difficult task playing against one of the best teams in Africa (Zamalek). We thought we could get to the final but it didn’t happen. Although things didn’t go as expected but we still have another chance to go next season”

“We had the mentality that it was going to be easy for us in Kumasi because Baba Yara had been good to us throughout the campaign. We recorded just a draw in all our home games in Kumasi. We had high hopes that it was going to be easy against Zamalek but unfortunately for us, we lost”

“You know this Egyptian teams, they are very quick and have experience when it comes to competitions like this, so I guess this is where God said we should end our trip. So we thank God”

Dreams FC will now switch their attention to the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup, where they have reached the semi-final. The FA Cup holders could return to Africa if they successfully defend their title.
