Ghana international Andre Ayew has apologized to Ghanaians for the Black Stars recent poor display.

The Black Stars has failed to live up to expectation in recent times, recording just one victory from their last ten games across competitions.

The West African powerhouse has suffered group stage elimination in the past two Africa Cup of Nations, leading to sacking of several coaches.

Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac was shown the exit door after leading the Black Stars to their worst AFCON tournament in 2021.

During the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast, the Black Stars were kicked out at group stage, which led to the sacking of Chris Hughton.

Speaking on "Chasing Gold with Nana Aba, Ayew, who currently plies his trade for Le Havre in the French Ligue 1, apologized for the Black Stars unimpressive performance in recent times.

“We need to keep working hard to make our nation proud because it is something very special. We cannot hide behind the fact that the results lately have not been the best, and we are sorry for that, but I know it's part of the game” he said.

The Black Stars will return to action in June for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The team will lock horns with Mali and Central Africa Republic respectively.
